Abstract

Art education and children's literature play a fundamental role in the holistic development of children in early childhood education, fostering creativity, imagination, language skills, aesthetic sensibility, and social and cognitive competencies. This study aims to discuss the importance of integrating these two fields of knowledge within the context of early childhood education, highlighting their contributions to the teaching-learning process. It is a bibliographic study based on the analysis of books, scientific articles, and official Brazilian education documents. The results indicate that artistic and literary experiences contribute significantly to the development of oral communication, reading, writing, bodily expression, autonomy, creativity, and critical thinking in children. Furthermore, the findings highlight the teacher's essential role as a mediator of these experiences, promoting pedagogical practices that integrate art, literature, and play in a planned and meaningful way. The study concludes that integrating art education and children's literature strengthens the child's holistic development and fosters a learning process that is more humanized, participatory, and aligned with the principles of early childhood education.
