Abstract

The transformations promoted by digital culture have significantly changed the ways information is accessed, knowledge is produced, and interactions occur, especially among children, adolescents, and young people who have grown up in environments strongly mediated by digital technologies. In this context, the popularization of short videos on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, combined with the expansion of generative Artificial Intelligence, has introduced new ways of learning, communicating, and producing meaning. This study aims to discuss the impacts of these transformations on educational processes, analyzing the pedagogical potential and challenges resulting from the incorporation of these languages into school contexts. Methodologically, this is a bibliographic and documentary study of a qualitative and exploratory nature, grounded in research on digital culture, multiliteracies, short videos, and Artificial Intelligence in education. The findings indicate that short videos and generative systems can contribute to more dynamic, multimodal, and participatory pedagogical practices, provided they are accompanied by critical mediation and pedagogical intentionality. It is concluded that schools are called to engage with new ecologies of attention and the languages of digital culture without abandoning their formative and emancipatory role.
