THE INTERFACE BETWEEN NEUROFEEDBACK AND NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL REHABILITATION: A NON-INVASIVE NEUROMODULATION PERSPECTIVE

Clinical neuropsychology has been expanding its traditional boundaries of cognitive assessment and stimulation through the incorporation of non-invasive neuromodulation technologies. Neurofeedback (NF), a technique based on the operant conditioning of electroencephalographic (EEG) rhythms, emerges as a promising complementary tool for the treatment of executive, attentional, and emotional dysfunctions. This article discusses the theoretical foundation linking neurofeedback to neuropsychology, analyzing how brain self-regulation training can enhance cortical plasticity and optimize cognitive rehabilitation processes. It is concluded that the convergence between neuropsychological mapping and NF protocols personalizes therapeutic care and provides greater sustainability to long-term clinical gains.
