Planetary Health constitutes an essential approach to understanding the relationships between ecosystem degradation, environmental changes, and their effects on population health. The study is characterized as a qualitative literature review and aims to analyze the impacts of ecosystem collapse on human health, highlighting the challenges and perspectives for strengthening environmental public policies. The methodology was based on the analysis of scientific publications and institutional documents related to Planetary Health, climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and environmental determinants of health. The results show that environmental degradation contributes to an increase in respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, vector-borne diseases, food and water insecurity, health problems related to extreme heat, and impacts on mental health, affecting socially vulnerable populations more intensely. The study also identified the need for greater integration among environmental, health, and social policies. It concludes that incorporating the Planetary Health perspective into public policies can contribute to risk prevention, reduction of socio-environmental inequalities, and the development of sustainable strategies for the simultaneous protection of human health and ecosystems.
