Abstract

Interacting within the school environment fosters children's development but also gives rise to conflicts stemming from individual differences, the formation of social relationships, and the learning process. In this context, conflict mediation plays a fundamental role by transforming situations of disagreement into opportunities for emotional, social, and cognitive development. This study is qualitative in nature, based on a literature review and a descriptive analysis of a hypothetical scenario in early childhood education. The objective was to understand the importance of the teacher's role as a mediator in conflict resolution, highlighting principles such as active listening, sensitivity, ethics, communication, and cooperation. The results demonstrate that mediation practices foster dialogue, empathy, respect for differences, and children's autonomy, contributing to the building of healthier relationships within the school environment. The study concludes that when conflict mediation is incorporated into pedagogical practices, it transcends the function of solving immediate problems and becomes an educational strategy capable of promoting a culture of peace and the holistic development of children.
